A: You see promotions for them all the time. But banking regulators have gone after lenders who misrepresent these loans. The reality is that no-cost and no-fee loans may actually cost the borrower more over the long term because costs are often hidden by rolling them into the new loan through higher principal or interest.

Freddie Mac recently released the results of its Primary Mortgage Market Survey®, showing mortgage rates easing to new all-time record lows for all products covered in the survey helping to keep homebuyer affordability high. The average for the 30-year fixed mortgage rate has been below 4.00 percent for six consecutive weeks.

A recent survey suggests jobs and housing will be the top issues on voter's minds in 2012.
The National Association of Realtor's consumer website houselogic.com asked consumers what issue area will most impact their vote in 2012. More than half of all respondents 54% identified jobs and unemployment as their top concern as they head to the polls next year. 27% said housing was the most important issue influencing their vote.

HomeGain.com, an online real estate resource that connects home buyers and sellers with real estate professionals, announced the results of its For Sale By Owner (FSBO) vs. REALTOR survey.

VIDEO: Renters Outspend Owners on Housing
The housing spending gap between owners and renters is growing.
According to the October Core Logic US Housing and Mortgage Trends, renters now spend 5% more of their monthly budgets on housing costs than homeowners. And as rents rise, the gap is expected to widen. Since 1985, housing expenses have taken up 12% more of the average homeowner's households budget. Renters, however, have had to allocate 22% more of their budget to housing expenses.
