Life Water
It’s hard to imagine anything more essential than the ability to save lives. Those ages 15 and up can learn more about this important skill when they take a Lifeguard Prep Class at North Point Pool in Waldorf. For $15, individuals will concentrate on swimming endurance and other essential skills that will prepare them to meet the prerequisites for upcoming Lifeguard classes. This class takes place on Monday, Feb 13 from 7:45-8:45.
Adolescence on the Move
Adolescence can be difficult time, but with a little guidance it can be smooth sailing. Girls on the Move is a vocation group that meets monthly, and is for girls ages 13-16. The group meetings help girls to develop positive attitudes about ethnic variation as well as social skills. The meetings will also help teach and support healthy eating habits, social etiquette, literacy and self-respect. Feeling Corny
Know any teens who want to get out of the house and have a little competitive fun? Somers Community Center in La Plata is running a Cornhole League for ages 14 and over. Teams of two play two matches per night, each match consisting of three games per person. The league runs on Fridays from Feb 10-March 2, from 6-9pm. Residents can play for $20 per team, and non-residents for $25.
Supporting Weight Loss
If you or anyone you know has gone through weight loss surgery or are considering having weight loss surgery, then the Tri-County Weight Loss Surgery Support Group is a must. On Feb 21 at 7pm, Tri County WLS Support Group provides information for those considering surgery, and a support system for those who have already undergone procedures.
